FAQs

When will I receive the monthly book?

Books will be available for pickup, delivery, or shipped the first week of the month. You will receive an email once it's available.

What can I expect from the book selections?

The selections will hopefully feel like an extension of our store -- a compelling title you may or may not have heard of. For small press titles, expect to get a mix of new independent hits and looked-over gems. It will be a great chance to keep up with your writer's favorite writers. 

Non-fiction titles may be political or art and music-focused. This summer, our two favorites in the category were "When the Clock Broke" by John Ganz and "Big Fiction" by Dan Sinykin.

There's a book coming out this month that I want instead, can I get that instead?

We can't do substitutions on book of the month titles, but we DO offer a 5% discount to subscribers and are more than happy to include the additional title in your monthly pick-up or delivery.

Will there be more categories in the future?

Yes! Subscription permitting. As long as the program grows and allows us to devote more time to it, we'd love to get more into sci-fi, children's books, philosophy -- whatever else you think we're missing!

Can I return the books?

Lot 49 Books does not offer returns, but we offer store buyback in cash or store credit.

My subscription price is more than the cover price this month, what gives?

We've included a lot of extras in the subscription price -- store discount, discord, two pick-up locations as well as FREE local delivery -- and we think it will feel more than worth it.

Can I purchase a membership for someone else?

Yes! When you check out, use their contact information for delivery.

Can I use my gift card or store credit towards the subscription?

Unfortunately, we cannot accept gift cards or store credit towards subscriptions.

Will you deliver to my home, office, apartment building etc. when I am not there?

Yes! Let us know if there is no secure place to leave it. Any failed deliveries will go to the pick-up location of your choice.
